JUST THIS YEAR
WORDS & MUSIC: Earl P. Reinhalter
I. just this year my mother put me away 'cause I stayed in my room, playing music all day. the doctor said, "you need a function in life - if not for your mother, at least for your wife." II. "what's the problem? I don't understand. like Jesus and Popeye, I am what I am." "the problem," he said, "is your bank account: nothing goes in, nothing goes out. III. "doc, I really had no idea that sanity equals economic diarrhea. but if that's what it takes to get me out of this joint, I'll try it and see if I get the point." IV. so I got a job and started buyin' stuff, though at first I was really just callin' their bluff. but now I got a house and a color TV and I'm certified free of insanity. V. I made so much progress in so little time, my self-esteem is starting to climb. and I'm so busy just spending my pay, I never sit around playing music all day. ENDING: all day... all day... all day... all day...
